I am kinda different on it. If she wants to wear it. Then she should learn to buy it. I think it is rude that she wants you to buy her it but she doesn't want to spend the time to learn nor go with you. That is me though.
Buy her that will match her tones. Let her know she is beautiful and don't need make up to cover her beautiful face up. If she wants to kind add a lil, to make her eyes stand out more or so, buy her some light eye shadow, liner and lip gloss that matches her hair color and skin tone.
I can't stand to see young girls wear make up that is either too much or the wrong kind.
I personally don't like make up myself on a lot of it. However, my mom wanted me to learn a few things that went with my tone and she took me to Macey's with their make up counters. They did some "testing" to see what is good on my skin. Especialy since my skin is easily irritated.

Take her to a cosmetic counter for a facial and they will tell you both. This is not shopping. This is beautifying. Keep your mouth shut about "This is my daughter's first time" and just grab a seat and let her fdo the same. Just say "We want to try something new. What do you suggest?" And wa la. The Make up girls will be all over the two of you like bees to pollen. Have them write down what they will and try and remember shades and colors and how to blend them. After that, go anywhere and pick out what you want and let her do the same. If you are willing to let her wear makeup you should be trusting enough to let her sellect it. I know that is scary. She could go gothic on you, but she could go the opposite way as well. Enjoy.

Dont buy her foundation or concelear, but go for products that look natural. The key to wearing make up is to not look like your wearing any at all. Dont let her buy anything outrageous like lime green eye shadow! Some good brands are bonnebelle and smackers. Dont buy Mary Kate and Ashley stuff most of it is crap.

Jane cosmetics are geared toward younger teens. Bonne Bell products are very good. First of all don't let her use foundation as yet, she doesn't need it at her age and it only clogs the pores causing pimples. All she really should be wearing is a light blusher and "gel" clear mascara. At her age she doesn't need the heavier stuff and her skin won't suffer.

Just light lip gloss and finger nail polish in light colors, she is 12 and doesnt need a whloe bunch of makeup, get her a nice hair style too, that should make her happy and she will still look her age.

I don't think she needs any kind of foundation yet. Just get her lipgloss, mascara, eye liner, eye shadow & maybe some blush. It would be a lot easier if she just went and picked the make-up out herself. Walmart has really great kid-friendly make-up for cheap.
