First of all, let's go over exactly what Freedom of Speech allows in general. FOS allows you to speak your mind freely but without being offensive or inciting hatred. This same rule for society applies here. So YAHOO isn't doing anything out of the norm. They are not hindering your freedom of speech in any way.
Examples, you can express dislike about the government or another country; you can express dislike about really anything you wish to.
You just have to be selective with your words. For example, you can't say, "... those 'nword' ppl are ....." You can't do that in society so why would you be able to do it here?
Or another example is when ppl decided to cuss at the other ppl, call them names or when some ppl decide that they have the right to judge another person by being insulting.
Once again, you can't do those things in society so what makes you think you can do them here? This is an answer and question system... not a chat forum. All of the above examples ARE NOT ANSWERING THE QUESTION. I personally always try to apply that general rule.. just answer the question no matter how much I dislike or disagree with the asker.
As long as you follow those rules, YAHOO really let's you do anything you want to. You can go to the religious section and talk about why you think abortion or being gay is wrong, etc... What is the problem? Once again, you just cant attack a group or be offensive.
I complained about a guy recently and YAHOO banned him. He even had a fairly high score. Why? Because in my profile I state that I am a lesbian. He answered my question by attacking me personally and informed me that I was a degenerate lesbian. Then after he received a violation, he wasn't satisfied and decided to continue his harrassment by emailing me with more derogatory statements about my sexual orientation... that is when I contacted YAHOO and forwarded his emails.
YAHOO impressed me by replying with a personal email that this was not tolerated... This does not tell me that YAHOO is pro-gay. It just tells me that they YAHOO will not tolerate hatred or bashing someone. That could apply to anyone.
I personally don't understand anyone who would not like YAHOO for allowing ALL ppl from society to have an equal, fair voice. What kind of answer/question place would it be if you only had one type of ppl with no diversity?
So you see, you have freedom of speech; but once again, this is an answer/question site not a chat forum. You can even voice personal prejudices. Ppl do that all the time BUT you have to do it in an appropriate manner without attacking someone personally.

Yahoo can't use answers concerning racists comments as an answer. That is why there are hardly any Republicans on the leader boards. They are destroying there own pages with false statements, and opinions that are incorrect..I see Conservatives pages with 300-400 wrong answers on them all over this site because they would rather harass people with spam and smut then answer the question..I think you all should approach Yahoo to start a racist page so you can understand what Civil rights are really about. That way you can post you views to your racism within a debate form based on facts. There are way to many profiles on the site that are from the same people trying to rule these pages. This isn't the way a network is going to be forced to run. I know teachers that are on here with PHD's being called vicious names by people that can barely speak most of the time. This isn't being educated, or showing any intelligence...I also agree with G about the spam and porn sites being forced on peoples pages with out their consent on Yahoo 360. This is really a bad problem, and I know that there are people right on this page now involved in that too.

I thing they want to insure that this site doesn't develop a bad reputation. I've answered a few questions that were pulled. The questions could have been considered inflammatory or solicitous but I treated them as if they were just difficult questions. Perhaps the rules will soften after the forum is better established.

little one,
Yahoo answer did not restrict Freedom of speech.
It's the Freedom of thoughts in pulling sling-shots and in throwing pots and pans at living human kind with self lack of knowledge with misinterpretation and miscommunication with communication failures on what went wrong out there on planet earth.
If you have a proper question to reach out and extend a helping hand in the problems solving no one is stopping you.
That is what yahoo answers is all about on planet earth.
Do you notice who is posting the little question with misinterpretation and miscommunication and communication failures on planet earth?

Good question. Why is it that I'm inciting hatred and violence if I say that there are people within my own race I'd love to beat the crap out of, but people who lie about me on here, making false accusations, are allowed to have their childish antics seen by all?
It's ridiculously unfair. I've been working hard to stop this...but I know those kids are reporting me every chance they get.

well.... Yahoo is a business... and the government doesn't want to make any rules that restrict business... so they can do what they want...
but, at the same time, without restrictions, it would just be slammed with solicitations for porn sites... and your socratic method would be very lost in the fray

If what you say is true, sooner or later any knowledge gained here will without a doubt grow outside of yahoo's control.

What? they are a bunch of idiots if you ask me.
They want to do this because they're all for gays, abortion, anti-gun and pro pornography.
My dad and his company and everyone affiliated with him (thousands upon thousands worldwide. Sorry, I can't tell you who he is!! neener neener) will have NOTHING to do with Yahoo because of what they stand for, or better yet, tolerate and promote.
