It was not worth having another billions of dollars of tax revenue lifted off multi-millionaires and put on the backs of those low paid workers.
No one notices the shifting tax burdens because the current administrations BORROWS to fill the holes in the revenue - but the piper will be paid - and it's us non-multi-millionaires who will be paying.
They should never have tied the two issues together. One bill next time. And soon!

there is a good reason not to raise the minimum wage. there is a lot of economics behind it. if you raise the minimum wage this equates to higher production cost which means one of two things: less goods and services produced or higher prices. also it will cause a greater demand for money meaning the intrest rate will increase. either way it may help those who are getting paid minimum wage but all who do not see a pay raise which will be the majority will be ******. then it will just cause more poverty and eventually there will be inflation and the amount they are paid will again not be enough and we will have to raise it again. also if you look at the real wages being paid (wages adjusted for inflation) the minimum is actually at one of its highest points in the last 50 years.

I don't have kids, but I think it's sickening. No one can live on $5.15 an hour and if you have kids....you can forget it. Congress doesn't have a clue about the real world. I would like to see people who are opposed to increasing the minimum wage try to live on $5.15 an hour.

Politicians seem so insulated, don' they? Quite overpaid.
It's the real jobs, the one's where actual work gets done, the day to day stuff that's underpaid.

You could not pay me to work at a fast food place or a store. I'd have to deal with people and their peccadillos all day, I'd go nuts.
