I started working when I was thirteen and I can tell you it does take away from everything else. You lose time for girls, and sports, and studies, and such. It makes it harder to find time for what is great about being a kid. As for the car, it is not as great as it seems to own your own car. At your age insurance is obscenely high priced. Gas is expensive. The kind of car you can pay for is always in need of repair. And then there are the people who are always hitting you up for a ride, You have no time, no money and even less of a life than you currently have, and then you have college just around the corner. If you go away for college the car sits there. If not the car breaks down from all the commuting. To be honest, it is never as fun as it starts out to be. If that is what you want a job for, stay unemployed. Odds are after high school you will go to college and then get a job that will pay you enough for a dream car. That is the car you want.

1) Try and show them how seriously you take school.

2) If you try to get an hourly job right away they'll be pissed. Is there any way you can do something for somebody, and they'll pay you for that? Then if you buy something for household with part of the sum (but keep the rest to yourself, or buy somthing for youself) it will show them that you're very, very different than what they think you are. Later, maybe you can convince them you can take on a part-time job and they will be OK with it.
