There are a few common known effect. Like the effects of changing body shape (bone as well as muscular changes), unwanted body fat in the breasts and hips, slight change of voice, and causing facial and body hair loss, all the things that doctors call 'feminizing' effects.
But there are a few more effects that most people aren’t familiar with. I’ll list a few in here.
1) Researchers have found evidence that the hormone estrogen can protect blood vessels against coronary artery disease in men as well as in women.
2) Although testosterone, the so-called male hormone, was also found to play a role in preventing bone resorption, as bone breakdown is known, estrogen proved to be important as well.
3) Side effects can also include enlargement or tenderness of the breasts (both sexes), swelling of the ankles and legs, loss of appetite, mood swings, weight changes, retention of water, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and feeling of bloatedness. The estrogen patch can cause skin rash, irritation, and redness at the patch site.
4) Symptoms of Estrogen Dominance in Men (a condition when there is insufficient progesterone in proportion to estrogen, making estrogen unbalanced or unopposed).
Enlarged prostate
Urinary problems
Low sex drive
Impotence
Depression
Fatigue
Rapid increase in weight
5) Estrogen dominance is known to contribute to cancer of prostate and the breast. It may seem paradoxical, but men are not immune to breast cancer. NOTE: This one is a funny one, because Estrogen is also used in stage "C" prostate cancer treatment, so go figure.
6) Older men who have below normal levels of estrogen are at heightened risk for hip fractures, and those with low levels of both estrogen and testosterone are at even greater risk, according to a new research.
7) Low estrogen levels affect about 15 percent of the male population.
8) Although many people tend to associate testosterone with men and estrogen with women, men and women possess both hormones
9) Men of all ages under great physical and emotional/mental stress, and specifically older men, suffer from decreasing testosterone and high relative estrogen. High estrogen can actually decrease the benefits of testosterone. And Alcohol always makes matters worse by inhibiting your ability to clear estrogen from the blood stream, by acting as a central system depressant and also by decreasing zinc.
I’m sure that there are a few more than I haven’t read or heard about. Which is good because this answer is already too long. I guess that it’s important to notice that we both (men & women) produce both male and female hormones in our bodies. In men, estrogen is an important hormone. Too much of it can cause feminization and health problems, but too little can cause other health issues which are not well known by a lot of doctors. Only until now is that doctor's are starting to realize the importance of estrogen in men's well being. From sex drive, energy levels, mental well being, to bone density and strength. Unfortunately, there is no standard way of testing men's estrogen levels. There are ways, but not a single one that doctor’s can agreed that is the best way to test men. More studies need to be conducted before it's determined the best way of testing for low levels of estrogen in men and treatments.

You'd throw the body's hormones out of whack. And yes, a guy would begin growing boobs, etc. The girl would begin to grow more body hair, etc.
All men and women have both estrogen and testosterone in their bodies, just in different ratios. Higher levels of testosterone give you more body hair, hence men having more body hair. Higher levels of estrogen give you boobs, hence women having boobs, etc.
