Kobe today
Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Larry Bird all time

And Earlgrey makes a great, great point... great plays have been made on BOTH ends of the floor during the final seconds of playoff games...

Larry Bird is almost as famous for 'the steal' against Detroit as he is for all of the game winning shots he hit over the years.

Bill Russell was the greatest clutch rebounder and shot blocker ever to play the game...

So wtg, Earlgrey... I've been watching basketball since the late 60s, and my first thought when I saw the question was 'who takes the last shot'...but you're so right... game winning plays can happen at EITHER end of the floor! Good job for bringing that up!

A lot can happen in 5 seconds.

Isn't it strange how EVERYONE interprets these questions as meaning: 'Who's gonna be the MAN who'll drill the trey over the four guys in his face, swoosh, nuthin' but net!!!!'...

When the game could equally be won or lost, in the last 0.5, by great defence, a pair of quick hands that make the key steal, a particularly determined rebound - all as valid as scoring?

I'll read your question as:

'who'd you most want on the floor, in that unpredictable last 5 sec, capable of doing any of the above in order to seal a win?'

My shortlist:

MJ (of course. Still your best bet.)
Larry Bird
KG

I would give the ball to T-mac for the simple fact that he can make 13 points and 35 seconds that i would give the ball to T-mac with 5 seconds left in the playoffs and because i seen him do it against the dallas maverick last year in the playoffs.

I agree with John M.

Kobe Bryant is the man, because he can stretch the defense.

d-wade. trust me. as a huge dallas mavs fan. dwayne wade is clutch. if you need a three, you might turn to kobe or ray allen. but for just 2 or just 1. d-wade is money.
