I am not racist ( i am a filipino ), but let us face it, black americans sing better than whites. You can count on your fingers those whites who could sing magnificently in acapella. But black can give u a nice rythmn even when plainly talking.

Not to offend but Black sing way better. The reason is because we have singing in our genes. From slavery to Jim Crow to Segregation to Present Day we sing at church. Now in each race we have people that can sing and people that can't sing. Like people in Whitney Houston's family they are gifted with the songbird trait. Mom, Dad, Aunt and Cousins and also her daughter. But her brother cant sing. The only reason not many whites are blesses with songbird trait. I think in each race they have a person that they think no one can top but in all reality when they get on stage they suck. For Example, No one Can Beat Patti Labelle and I mean that no one not Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin and Etc. Like no one can beat Elvis Presley.

Black. That's a gross generalization. Some white people sing way better than some black people, and personally I like just about any white people's music better than rap, but not as much as R&B and gospel music sung by a black person with a really powerful voice. There's just something about it you can't beat.

I am partial to black artists, I love to hear the older Motown sound, what I call "Old Soul", I really love Al Green and Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Luther Vanndross. Such feeling in that kind of music, and the talent of many black artists of that era has not been surpassed by any white knock offs!
No offense please, I just think when you want good melodic and romantic music the black performers are more talented. (My opinion, and a lot of slow dances and feelings in that kind and time in music!)

Questions of this magnitude tend to awaken deep thoughts, as well as stir emotions. So, I will say both have their strengths. I really don't like some of the black music; but on the same token, I don't like some of the white music. You didn't ask about talent or musical background; that would enable a logical response.
The fact is, both have to pay their dues; or they can't sell their music. As far as pop is concerned, the winner is Michael Jackson. As far as rock is concerned, it is Elvis. Oh my gosh, one white and one black. My favorite female singers are Dolly Parton and Gladys Knight. Oh my, one white and one black.

American is not a racial backround~ and it depends on the person, not their race. Turn on the radio and you will hear great singers from every racial backround... It's the sound of their voice that matters, not the color of their skin.

Sorry folks, but the best singers I've ever heard with the widest vocal range and powerful stage performance hail from only one country: Philippines!
