So the Sentinel is the original Green Lantern from the 1940's. How he is still alive and young is all sort of confusing, involving multiple Earths and Crisis on Infinite Earths. But regardless his name is Alan Scott. He had a daughter named Jade. He is like a father figure to many heroes. His green Lantern is is based on magic, not on the power battery on OA, so he is totally different from the other Green Lanterns. He may still be susceptible to wood, but I am not really sure of the status of that, as it is rarely mentioned. Kyle Rainer is an artist, who was the third (or fourth) Earth guardian to be a member of the green lantern corp. That means he was picked by little blue men on OA to protect the Universe, but mostly this sector of space. When Hal Jordan, the Earth Oain power based Green Lantern went nuts and killed most of the corps, Kyle took over all the green lantern power. He eventually reignited the main power battery on Oa. Now however, he is just a normal lantern, and he is an artist, so a lot of his shapes revolve around that. Also, his power is based on will, and the Oain power battery. He use to have a weakness against yellow, but no longer.

While I don't know ION's current power/ability status, here's what I know: The Sentinel (formerly the 1st Green Lantern, Alan Scott), has a green lantern ring that is steeped in magical green flames for power. He was susceptible to anything wood. Kyle Rayner was a Green Lantern with a ring devised from OA's Council, similar to Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart. The Sentinel was originally a member of the All Stars, later known as Justice Society of America.

Well, Kyle Rayner had control of the Green Lantern ring and made it work in his favor, the other Green Lanterns could not do what Kyle did with the ring.

Rayner is a whiny little ***** who should have been killed off, and Alan Scott is THE MAN! One of the greatest characters in comics and he continues to evolve. Alan is always interesting. Even after sixty-five years.
