Depends what you want. Melia is quite nice with best buffet I have ever had. You can walk to the center of the city - Hoan Kim Lake and Hang Gai - the shopping district. The Sheraton is in the West Lake district (15 min away) - now competing with the city center for restaurants . The disco there had the most beautiful Vietnamese women I have ever seen both by themselves and with dates. Music was great. It looks brand new.

Hilton is truly in the center of the city - dead center and probably the most convenient. Right next to the famous Opera. If money is not an issue or you can get a good rate I'd stay here.

There are many "boutique hotels" i.e. small number of rooms 30 or so. One , if I can spell it right , is the Desoya - very nice and near the Hilton. Perhaps do a google search under "Hanoi boutique hotels" There are a few near the Hilton.

Hanoi is a beautiful, fascinating city . Enjoy

Hi there,

I am Truong at DirecTravelAsia based in Vietnam.

Melia is a business hotel, which is always used for government's guests so is always full. Sheraton is too far from the center.

I recommend Sofitel Plaza Hanoi or Sofitel Metropole. USD 215 per room per night including breakfast and taxes at Sofitel Metropole and for Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, it is USD 98. The rates are valid till 31 Oct 2006.

For visa, we can arrange visa on arrival for you at USD 60 per person including visa stamping fees. If you need Testimonials from the USA to check for our services, please let us know.

Please kindly visit us at www.directravelasia.com or email directly to me at truong@directravelasia.com

Best regards,

Truong. Aug 6

Hanoi is small, so any hotel is OK, 'cause it's easy to go around. Check out these links for more information:

I recommend that you contact a travel agent. They can tell you which hotel is better and what the location is like.

Should check the real reviews on Agoda.com before booking. We highly recommend Thaison Palace Hotel for its good location, cheap price and nice room. Our family stayed at this hotel last month and could not recommend it enough.
