This town was was famous of women accepting men as gods in their beds every nite - it was an offering which their community used to fullfill gods by taking men to bed.

It was active till late 80`s. do not have any clue if they are still active.

Peddapuram is an important Municipal town in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh in South India. Peddapuram is famous for its weekly Market (locally called Peddapuram Santha) held on every Sunday. The nearest Railway station is Samarlakota.

There is a Agricultural Research Station which does Research on Ragi and Tapioca. This Research Station is affiliated to Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University.
