I am tired of people saying that the confederate flag symbolizes heritage of the south when it lasted only five years and it was brought about because the President outlawed the importing of slaves due primarily to population, and their inhumane treatment by slave owners both white and jewish.

You do need to read a little more about the years prior to the Civil War so you can understand more of what went on. The facts you stated are a little off.

You won't get any worth out of any answer if you don't.

Heritage can be adopted from existent or non-existent belief. The South didn't just up and change its lifestyle to start a war, it had a pre-existing tradition of fighting men and tradition that included slavery ,yes, but so did all Americans. Unfair treatment of African Americans did not start or stop, with the war. America accepted the slave trade and also did little to progress civil rights years after its end.

Confederacy may have officially been recognized for five years, but the feelings and what was going on at that time was something that was festering for decades.

If you look at relationships in the form of divorce, people could've been married for 10 years and divorced for only 1 year. However, the feelings of resentment, bitterness, or changes in ideals had been something unspoken for along while.

On a side note, I was born and raised in Washington State for 26 years and now reside in Los Angeles. I'm not from the South or presume to know anything about their culture or heritage. I'm speaking in general.
