The Russians born in Czarist Russia (it was 1868) mostly returned back home. Some of the men and had taken native wives and (surprise, surprise!) had children. A few of those men stayed, I don't know if many of the wives and children were brought back, I'd guess not and that probably some of those men had wives back home.
Certainly you see many Russian names among Alaskan Natives today and some evidence of Russian ancestery. More evident are are the Russian Orthodox churches in any of our older towns.
The Aleuts, Athabaskan and Tlinkit Native Alaskans stayed and were ruled first by the US Army, then by Territorial governments, and since 1959 by a state government. The purchase treaty with Russia called for the Natives to receive certain rights and fair treatment. That was largely ignored until the 1950's and in some ways, beyond.

First Alaska became a usa territory, then it became a state. Interesting question, because we aquired alot of states similarly. You could ask the same question of the mexicans living in southwest when we got it, and the french in lousianna, the hawiian population, ect.. How about the natives who were already here long before western intrusion?

Good question. I guess some just took it as a pleasant surprise that they became US citizens. There must have been something there that could be made into a movie.

I don't think anybody ever bothered to send them an email concerning this particular issue. They all died of old age in the end anyway.

They were nomads. They didn't give a rat's butt who claimed the land.
