In not too long, I'll have two undergrad degrees, one in graphic design and one in math. So far, I've been thinking of following the math and going into some engineering field. But is there a job that would pay enough to keep me off the streets that would combine the graphic design and math? I dearly love both of my directions of study and would be equally complimented if someone called me a math geek or computer nerd (call me both and we should find a time to go out for coffee.) Yet in all my searching, I haven't really come across anything that would fit. And in terms of the graphic design, I am not looking for a mindless job of creating the sort of graphics an amateur with a guide to Photoshop or Illustrator could do in a half hour. Just because I like math doesn't mean I don't like being creative. I use both sides of my brain, and I'd love it if I could find a job that would let me do just that. I'd really appreciate it if you'd share any thoughts you had on the matter.

I really can't think of an arena in which you could use both. However, I would definately go the math route. Not just anyone can get a degree in math, you gotta have some serious brain power. What about architecture? You need math....graphic design couldn't hurt.

Having the RN after your name is just a matter of passing the NCLEX Nursing boards test. Anybody with an associate's degree or a bachelor's can take the boards. A lot of people get their associates and then work somewhere that will reimburse them to get their bachelors. That is a good strategy. However, some associate's degrees are 3 years anyway, so some think its just as well to go ahead and get the 4 year degree out of the way right away. The trend in hospitals today is to hire more nurses with bachelors and usually you have to have it to get a management position. Another idea: If you work as a nurse's aide during school, , they will often reimburse your degree as well. Also being an aide in a hospital is a good way of seeing what the environment is like. Being a nurse and nursing school is a long, hard road, and often disillusioning so be prepared to know this is really what you want. It must be a calling if it is worth it. Many blessings on your journey.

Sounds to me like you'd be a natural in the computer games area. With the math background you'd have little problem with the "physics" popping up in games these days.

Or you might go to Hollywood and see if you can get in on all the cool CGI revolution happening. "Oh no..." OH YES!! look at how LONG the credits list is on "Matrix".

GO GEDDUM! Good luck! I wish I were you!

How about advertising companies that cater to engineering companies? Or the advertising departments of engineering companies? They need designers for cars, engines, equipment, etc. You can use both your talents there. Then you can be a geeky computer math nerd. :)

What about architecture? There is the design aspect and the mathematical aspect, both required for good structures.

Virginia, Virginia.
What can I do with my degrees?
Now that is a leading question, so I won't be the first to state the obvious.

I'll leave that to the next answerer.

Check out color separators, the companies that make the negatives for color printing. They use computers, optics, film, lettering, and design.
