The following material requires a very intellectual and philosophical mind to digest and understand, but by all means read and ponder.

Brains in a Vat: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/brain-vat/
Or http://www.butte.edu/~machuga/God%20of%20all%20Grace/Chapter%204.html

It basically suggests and refutes that we (you, or anyone) are just brains in a vat connected to a super-computer because we are able to ask the question are we just brains in a vat.

Unfortunately the theory is flawed because it assumes we are dealing with human brains in a vat, but that may not be the case.

Is it not possible that everything we think, feel, believe, sense, taste, smell, you name it is in fact virtual, and everything science or religion puts forward is just virtual. Is it not possible that all the troubles in the world are just virtual. Is it not possible that the universe is just virtual, and that the intelligence in a vat will never know the answers to anything in our world or universe.

This kind of runs parallel to the question put forth by the likes of Isaac Asimov in I, Robot. When does something stop being virtual and become real. Much the same way when does a robot stop being a robot, and become a being. Likewise what defines a human if we are all brains in a vat being fed virtual worlds then that is human.

The point of disease would be to make things seem more real. Just like in a videogame things like cuts and dynamic movement of hair are added to make it seem close to real life.

You should stop smoking whatever that is and get a grip!

Of course there's no way, ultimately, to "prove" any kind of reality. We might all just be figments of your imagination! But the only way to move forward without getting mired in a bog of "hippie-thought" is to generally follow the tenet of "occam's razor", that the simplest, cleanest explanation with the least "loose ends" is the most likely.

It is possible for everything we sense to be virtual, nothing can prove it isn't... our only proof to ourselves is the lack of any residual thought of mind alteration ever occuring in history, either "they" did a great job or it isn't true... also the theory lacks what is of most importance: purpose.
