Every time you go to a web site you download stuff automatically. That's how web pages work. Your browser download HTML and other files which tells it to download pictures files and the like.
How did you think the information got displayed? Magic?

if you go to a site, you are downloading stuff because it needs to download the words, links, pictures, etc. those are the good files. some sites have trojans that go on your computer pretending to be "good files" but then unleash other things that are malignant toward your computer. the best thing to do is to just have a good updated virus protection (like spybot s&d and ad-aware)
