The only time I ever follow a celebrity's life is when he or she comes into the restaurant where I am waiting for a table - and walks right on through. Jeez, I hate that!

Because people are bored with their own lives and find following the antics of celebrities more interesting. It's sad, but that's the way it is. To an extent it's okay if one just uses it for relaxation and diversion, but to spend hours a day reading, watching, and talking about celebrities is a life wasted.

Because they seem to never notice that some of these people(celebrities) don't care about us. They just want recognition and our money. They want our worship like they are some kind of god. Just like celebrities demanding certain amounts of money and their room being a certain way before they show. I say we reverse the charts on the stuck-up ones. Basically the celebrities entertain the bored people.

A little bit of all of it, I would think. I don't really understand how people could care which celebrity hooks up with which from week to week. They don't live int he world of reality to begin with and their examples are a poor one for society.

Celebrities are people who can entertain us when we're bored. (Might be)
Imagine, when you're bored, and you might just thought of chillin' in the cinema to watch some movies.
Other than textbooks from schools, i think you'll prefer to read gossip entertainment news from the magazine about the celebrities?...
Celebrities wouldn't be who they are without the fans to support them.. yea..

I can't stand celebrities, but every now and then, I also get caught up in the Hollywood drama. As bad as it may sound, I enjoy it when I see celebrities suffer.

because it's human nature wanting to be busybody with other people's lives. They do it with other people too. Celebrities have more people busybody on their private lives cause they are just celebrities.
I don't really care what they do in their own time. Let them have their privacy. You be pissy to if somebody busybody your privacy

Its pretty much like gossip. People who like gossip, tend to like the celebrities. Money is a part of it at times. But most of the time its what they are doing.
I mean, you see pictures of them crying about a break-up and its like..your sitting there reading about it, thinking "ah that sucks for her" "maybe she should of kept her legs closed" and all this.
Its just fun. Another form of fun.

I think it's easier for people to care about something trivial like the world of entertainment than it is for them to care about something relevant like politics.
Sadly, American Idol probably gets more votes cast than many regional elections do, I'm willing to bet.

They are the closest thing Americans have to royalty. We have no king or queen or prince charming to revere, so we give celebrities our attention and esteem.
