...and it will get worse before it gets better.

The easy work can be done overseas cheaper,, so it is
The hard work needs skilled labor and is expensive, so it's people are paid well.
The services that need to be done here are done by Americans OR immigrants that will do that work cheaper, ...so it is.

CHina, Central America and India seem to be the big winners now. BUT...their standard of living will match ours someday and they will lose those jobs to Africa or South America or wherever is politically stable and ready to accept these jobs cheaper.

So it goes. Look at the companies that bucked the trend...GM for instance...they are dying and have to use offshore labor to catch up or die. Better 100,000 work in America rather than have 300,000 lose their jobs as the company folds. No comfort to you I know, but you need to get in that second category of jobs...ones that really can;t be done overseas.

When our standard of living matches the rest of world, or theyu catch up, or a big war drives the jobs here, then we'll get the jobs back...not in our lifetime I bet.

So that poor people can buy clothing and other items that they need at a lower price.

Generally, items for the rich are custom made, and therefore are too detailed or difficult for the average sweatshop worker. The biggest beneficiary of cheap labor is, oddly enough, cheap labor!
