I was just wondering because i hear people say so often they hate tree huggers... if you could explain EXACLY what one is it would be much aprreciated
I didnt really know what catacory this would be under...

Somebody who loves and takes up for the enviorment..There against mining,logging,basically anything that messes with the enviorment..

People hate tree huggers because they have no sense of real economics in their little brains. I'm all for being enviornmentally sound, but when it take money out of the pockets to feed families, then I'm against them. The main goal of tree huggers is to stop our economy from expanding, but with the growing population of the world this hurt economies. Tree huggers are a spin off from the communist party.

The term "tree huggers" originated in the 1960s in the US, when the modern environmental movement took off in earnest after the publication of Rachel Carson's book, "Silent Spring."
One of the early concerns of the environmental movement was the cutting down of so-called, "Old Growth Forests." To prevent the loggers from cutting down these trees, environmentalists used to have themselves handcuffed around the trunks of these trees with thick chains. If you look at any photographs of these people, they look not like they're trying to save the trees, they look as though they are "hugging" the trees. From pictures like these, the term, "Tree-Hugger" was born. And now it is used derisively to mean anyone who is thought to be overly committed to environmental issues.

Really, it's what Conservatives call hippies and Liberals. Even some liberals call further liberals tree-huggers. It's an insult/label for hippies, liberals, and especially environmentalists.

Its SUPPOSED to be a derogatory term for someone who is pro environment. Conservatives like to use this term for Liberals because most Liberals are pro environment. They use it because conservatives hate the environment and don't care if our planet is being polluted.
