RW stands for ReWriteable. You can erase them and burn again. The CD-Rs can't do that.

The numbers are the speed that they are capable of burning at. 52x means 52 times the rotational speed of a standard audio cd while playing and can burn an entire CD in about 5 minutes. The RW speed is much slower because they factor in the time for erasing the CD too.

A CD-R is used to describe a CD that is "Recordable". A CD-RW is used to describe a CD that is "Re-Writable". In other words, you can record onto a CD-R only once. Once that's burned, that's it...it's done.
A CD-RW can be written to, added to, erased, recorded on again and again, if you want to. CD-RW's are usually used to record data that you want to back up. A CD-R is usually used to make music CD's or the like. So, if you're making music CD's, use a CD-R...if you want to burn data to use as backups, etc, then use a CD-RW. Hope this helps.

CD - R only reads CDs but you can burn one using CD-RW drives. The X means 150 KB/s so u multiply that to the number(52*150). The 4X is burning speed of your CD-RW.

CD-R means CD writeable. meaning that you can burn CDs at a speed up to 52x (very fast). CD-RW means CD Re-writeable, meaning you can burn files to a CD that already has burned files on it at a speed up to 4x (slow).
