There are three types of amphibians: 1) Frogs (Anura), 2) Salamanders (Caudata), and 3) Caecilians (Gymnophiona).
The largest amphibian in the world is the Chinese Giant Salamander Andrias davidianus purported to be up to 180 cm from the nose to the tip of the tial. An animal that was 115 cm long weighed 25 lbs!

The Last Ninja is right.

Among modern amphibians (because of course, there are many fossil "amphibians" that were much larger!), the largest are... not so large, probably because dehydration is a serious issue for animals with such permeable and naked skin.

Predictably, the largest amphibian is completely aquatic (less water-loss issues): Andrias davidianus, the Chinese giant salamander. You have already gotten good answers with this fact.

In addition, the largest frog is East Africa's Goliath frog (Conraua goliath) that can reach more than 30 cm from snout to vent (it's longer if the legs are included); and the largest caecilian is Caecilia thompsoni from Colombia, which is more than 1.5 m long.

Sadly, all these animals are endangered due to loss of their natural habitats.

It is the chinese giant salamander.

I know other people have already answered this question, but I am just answering to clarify what the correct answer is, as some of the people answering here clearly do not even know what an amphibian is.

Crocodiles, tortoises, anacondas and iguanas are reptiles, and whales are mammals!!! I don't know why people answer questions they know nothing about...

The largest amphibians in the world are the giant salamanders of China and Japan. They can reach a length of up to 5ft. Be warn, they can give a very nasty bite, esp if they are that big.
