Well most of the stuff you register for so others will buy it for your baby shower. Mostly when they first come home you need a bassinet, blankets, the little sleeper gowns (easier to change their diapers), newborn diapers with the little notches cut out for the belly button, health kit with nail clippers, nasal aspirator, ear cleaner, bottle sterilizer (If you have a dishwasher get a basket for top shelf and wash bottles in there...$3.99 for 2 at Babies or Toys R Us), baby bottles (even if you plan on breastfeeding) ,breast pump (helps build up milk supply and daddy can give baby a bottle too). When you register pick out a travel crib...ours has been a Godsend

Just a highchair, a ton of diapers and a big tv. Put the baby in the highchair in front of the tv, change the diaper every now and then and when it starts to fade out, stick food and drink in front of it.

Well, that's how you build a president anyways.....not sure about a normal person.

diapers of course, then depending on whether you breastfeed or not a breast pump or two. breast pads, nursing bras, nursing tops, bottles, nipples, sippy cups, child sized utensils, pacifiers, sleepers, crawlers, tee shirts, bibs, teething gel, infant Tylenol, benedril, children's dimetap. Rectal thermometer, cotton balls and cotton swabs. Alcohol, baby oil, baby lotion, baby bath/soap, diaper cream, socks, receiving blankets, hats (for keeping the sun off) stroller/buggy, car seat, crib and mattress, playpen, crib sheets, toys appropriate for age group. Night lights so you don't stumble getting to the crib in the middle of the night. humidifier, baby shampoo, baby combs and brushes, wash cloths hooded towels, baby tub, bassinet, cradle and stuffed animals.

you'll need a crib (bassinets are nice but won't last long, baby outgrows them fast), you'll need a place to put your baby's clothes, a baby bathtub, baby clothes (get neutral colors for now), a car seat, and get one pack of newborn diapers...don't get too much of that size because they outgrow that usually in about a week or two...you'll also need wipes, bibs, blankets and bottles if you won't breastfeed...
