my wife has recently made a new friend, who happens to be gay. I'm completely comfortable with that fact. however, this friend happens to be overly diva-like, and a little too much for me to handle. I'm far from homophobic, but extra girly prissy is just a little much for a straight man to handle. ray romano wouldn't give in to that....my father wouldnt....hell, no one I know or have ever met would be ok with that. I feel like my wife is sort of betraying me by not even considering my side. she thinks I'm being unfair to her. now the guilty feeling is here. so my question is: am I wrong?

Well I guess if you have let her girly friends stay over then yes I think you would be unfair to not let this friend stay. Also if you don't know much else about him this would be the time to see if you could be friends too. It's just for a weekend and if things don't work out then you never have to do it again. Maybe if things get too uncomfortable you could just go hang out somewhere else.

To be honest yea you are. I mean you are pretty much judging the guy on who he is. Even though you are saying you are not homophobic. Thats like saying to a black person I'm not racist but I hate the baggy pants, and slang and rap they sing. Bottom line you are imposing an oxymoron here. You are accepting hes gay but not accepting how he is when he is himself. And its just a couple of days, no biggie. If you are that uncomfortable hang out with your friends during the nights for a while or hide out in your bedroom. Pretty much places that you feel comfortable and places that he can't come into without being invited. Because you can't set such double standards like that people will always be who they are, regardless if you like it or not.

Ask Ray Romano how he would handle it!!! He may lend you a funny line or two to help you out and get rid of this situation. I am just a little suspicious that this character you are talking about might even be a man - just a tip!!!

Trying to control who your wife's friends are or who is allowed to visit is not going to help your marriage any. I can see you objecting if she invited a new straight male friend to stay for the weekend - but exactly how is this gay friend a threat to you? I don't quite understand what your reluctance is based on.

It just a few days! Plan a trip out with your buddies or something. Your wife is not asking you to entertain this person. I understan where you are coming from I have been in a similar situation however in mine it turned out to be a great weekend. It went alot quicker then I thought.
