How is it.. that some gay people in this world.. still seem to be devout believers in whatever religion they practiced throughout their childhood. It really makes no sense to me. Anyone have an answer for me?

How is this different from non-gay people? (being honest, not sarcastic) To me, it's just like anybody else. People tend to stick to they way they were raised for most things, right?

Just because someone is gay, means they can no longer believe in God or go to church? I'm guessing that you're implying being gay is a sin, therefor gay people are going against God and should just not attend church or anything. Wow, you think you have some right to tell other people they have no right to have a relationship with God because you disagree with their lifestyle? I think if you're a church going person, next time you're there maybe you should ask yourself why you still come to church. I mean after all, you're going against God when you judge others, and a sin is a sin, so why do you continue to be a devout believer? Or do you attend one of those churches where the congregation is perfect and has never sinned? I'll bet that must be where you go to worship!
I would rather my children be exposed to a whole bunch of gay people that don't go around judging others, then to be exposed to a bunch of judgmental morons that call their-selves Christians.

Just because I am gay doesn't mean that I don't have the right or shouldn't believe in God . I have a very deep faith and believe in the god who created me . I read my bible and pray . I go to church on Sunday and take part in whatever is going on in my church as much as my work schedule will allow me . God and Christ have a great deal to do with who I am and what I believe in . I feel that without God in my life , I would have no direction or morals . Being gay is not what I believe it is just what I am . I do not wear gay on my sleeve or define myself by that . I am many things and gay just happens to be what defines my sexual need . Christianity is not a religion it is simply the belief in Christ and his teachings . Some organized religions teach that gay men and women are going to hell because of their sexual practices . I do not believe nor have been able to find in the Bible where Jesus said that a man or woman who have sex with the same sex is going to be damned to hell .

I'm of the opinion that MOST people really do have their very own personal view about the way God and the universe work. Most people tend to move towards whatever religion fits them BEST, but no few if any are spot on. If this is just one of the things they disagree on...

::shrug::

I can only guess, though. I personally see it as impossible to truly believe in any one thing and think its right when NONE of it has any evidence that's better than any of the rest.

Because your sexual preference has absolutely nothing to do with your spirituality. Being gay is just another trait, like being left-handed or having green eyes. Believe me, there are many spiritual GLBT folk who have prayed to be delivered from this "demonic influence," but they have not received any deliverance. What should this tell you? That God does not condemn homosexuality. Only man. If only more "religious" people would seek the truth through prayer, then they would have so much more wisdom regarding all matters. But that's another discussion altogether. =)

Well, since the word "Christian" simply means, to profess a belief in Christ, and since there is no REAL scripture that has been PROVEN to say that being gay is a sin (being promiscuous and over doing anything is what is talked about) and since most people believe that their god is a loving god who accepts all her children, regardless of race, creed, color or even sexual orientation. It's not hard to see why many people would still chose to follow their god, even after admitting who they really are. Two of my very good friends (two men) attend church every Sunday, sing in the choir, and are getting spiritually married (cause my state won't recognize it legally) at the end of the month. I don't share their beliefs, but I do agree that god, if there is one, is the only one who has a right to judge. But I am OHHHH sooooo happy that they are finally getting married!!!!

Because my religion doesn't preach that being gay is wrong. In fact, there is no preaching in my religion. I practice solitary wicca, and when I have practiced with a group, it's very open. You're gay, bi, straight, trans....whatever. Sexuality doesn't even enter into the equation.

Why would a gay person change her/his religious beliefs just because she/he is gay? It sounds like you're talking about those gay folk that "come out" to themselves and others; and after "coming out" they maintain their religion and even their religious practices. I don't see that as unusual. Being a gay man myself, when I came out to myself and then to my family and friends (I don't wear it on my sleeve), I found myself experiencing a deeper spirituality. And I continue maintaining the religion with which I was raised--protestant christian. Hope that helps a bit.

It doesn't make any sense to me either ... considering that I was lied to and misled so much. But then, that's why I quit when I was 19 and never looked back. Maybe other people didn't have such a negative experience.
