Not necessarily. Have you ever seen Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Both of them are very attractive.

However, I think more women are likely to marry despite looks then men are. Men see marrying a gorgeous woman as a status symbol. You hardly ever hear of a woman having a "Trophy Husband".

I recently read an article that said that most people end up marrying someone that is fairly equal in looks as they are. Of course this doesn't apply to everyone but it seems to be a general rule.

For example 5's usually marry 5's and 8's usually marry 8's. It's interesting because when I was 18 and married my first husband I would say I was an 8 1/2 and he was about a 6. Things didn't work out. Part of if was he was always jealous of me, especially when I was talking to male friends.

My current husband is equal to me in looks and we have been together for 16 years!!!

Yep, its absolutely true. Gorgeous guys always marry gorgeous girls however. I think maybe the reason good looking girls sometimes end up marrying for personality, intellect, and wealth later, is because they already dated the "cute" guys in high school and college, so its kind of out of their system.

Young girls (teens) do like gorgeous guys, but as they get older, as their intellects progress, they don't emphasize it nearly as much. Unlike shallow guys, who can never seem to grow out of their stupid adolescent phases (unless your name is John Lennon who married an uggo). Even guys in their 60s still are attracted to the same thing they were when they were 18.

There aren't any real stereotypes. People meet and fall in love with people because that's what people do. We all have our own ideas about what we find attractive. There are certain reinforced ideals about that, to be sure, but there aren't any rules to it.

A woman considered attractive by some could certainly fall for a man considered not so attractive by others. Really, it's all subjective in the end. What one person thinks is sexy is seldom what another person thinks is sexy. We all have our own individual tastes - nobody can tell another person that something is sexy or not.

It's impossible to know for sure what a given individual thinks is truly sexy (even if you think you know what someone else's fantasies are, chances are you probably don't know as much as you think you do).

Look at your newspaper. Focus in on the section where the marriages are announced. Now, look at whom is marrying whom. Look at the pictures of the brides. Who are the truly beautiful, well educated gals marrying....they're marrying the same truly beautiful well-educated guys that have the neatest jobs. We seem to maybe have a little bit of a cast system going! Isn't that funny? The wedding announcement section of the paper is so hysterical.

my mom was gorgeous (actual beauty queen. and a ballerina!) and she married some genetic flop.

and not that i agree with your generalization, but if you are pretty and you have people telling you you're pretty all the time, compliments get boring and you start looking for people who don't give them or give new unusual ones. i think this leads to attraction in groups of men who aren't typically "gorgeous" such as rockers or nerds. but who knows.

If it is true ..it may be vanity. They dont want their significant other to be better looking . Also ...mostly , with women , looks don't come first . As a general rule , men are attracted first to looks and women to money , but thats not always the case. I am into personality, sensuality, sense of humor and someone who thinks I'm real cute!!!

It's totally true. Why would a woman want to marry someone who is more pretty than her? Consider: Paulina Porizkova and Ric Ocasek. What's up with that?

Gorgeous guys are usually vain and have huge egos. They think they are God's gift to women and they cheat whenever they can.

I think so. When I worked a labor and delivery floor we nurses would look to see if a couple "matched". Some were shocking in difference. Shows beauty is not everything in a relationship.
