Just to let you know...1. its a service 2. the food doesnt put itself together and in the bag. 3. if its brought to your car we dont enjoy the bad weather. Granted most of the time we make more than the regular servers but 10% would ne nice and if you still dont think you should tip...McDonalds is more your speed. For those who dont tip servers who make $2.13 hope ya never have to work for tips. And if you think...they need a real job, if we all had "real jobs" who would serve the food??? If you think serving is easy try it for a week...see you can get out of training. Selling $1,000 worth of food is more work then people understand. Dont underestimate restaurant workers!!!!!! You need us more than you know...If not enjoy your homemade meals :)

I agree with you. If you don't have the money to tip at a resteraunt, don't eat there. And if you have a "to go" order you need to tip- the waitress or waitors are taking time away from their tables and making sure your order is correct so you don't have to go home and cook a meal for your family, for your convenience. And be considerate for all you table hogs. Leave atleast a buck, don't leave 20 percent of a $1.00 coffee after hogging up the table for 2 hours. He/she could have had atleast 2 rotations of customers there.

It really depends on the service and the place. If I get a rude server, then I will not tip. Tips are to be earned. However, if I am being treated kindly and was satisfied with the service, I would tip. I would not tip at fast food restaurants, maybe a dollar at Sonic's occasionally. (Though most of the Sonic's I've been to lately have terrible service."

I actually didn't know the properness of tipping the To Go waiter/ess. But I have to tell ya - I do tip them because they saved my little booty a trip into the place. What I don't do is tip them as much as if I were sitting inside. But if my bill was $42 I'd give $45. I would hope that was ok. I actually also assumed that your not only servicing the To Go area - that you actually waited on tables inside too. Is that incorrect? Well just so you know - I'm a tipper, and I believe you deserve it.

I completely understand your pain. I"m a restaurant manager and don't really like having to deal with servers when they don't make the tips that IRS thinks they should have made. For those of you that don't know servers get taxed on the amount of sales they make and not necessarily on the tips they collect, So they may end up not only not making ends meet but also having to pay out to the IRS.

I hear yea!! I worked for waffle house for 2.05 an hour plus tips and we had to fix to-go order's and your right food just don't jump in the bag. I don't know what these people think. When your a waitress you work for your money. Waitresses don't get paid what there worth. It's a physical and mental job. God!! and some of the drunks and rude and ignorant people we have to put up with it's unreal.

I guess a lot of people figure tipping is just for service at a table or bar or something. I don't use those to-go things, so I never thought about it. About the closest I come is picking up pizza occasionally.

And I do enjoy my home cooked meals; that's why I make them !

I KNOW.. I used to wait tables and let me tell u a horror story. I go into the hot kitchen to get YOUR food. I fight with the Alley coordinator and cook to get YOUR meal right. I took YOUR order and made sure its correct. I then got YOUR drink and made sure it was rite. Then i burn myself on YOUR plate. And continually come to check on YOU and ask about YOUR meal. Thats just the stuff i do for JUST you. I have 3 other tables and on a busy night more than that plus all side work. I think that if u go out to eat and dont have enuff to pay for the service you are country and backwards and should stay at home and abuse your mom to cook for you.

I guess I'll walk inside to get food from now on. Next we will have to tip those in the McDonald's drive thru. Don't misunderstand, I hate the system that we have to tip. Employer's should have to pay fair wages.

but we have no money to give for tips. we can barely make it as it is. Bush ruined our good jobs, now we are working for minimum wage. Tips don't even make the budget list. we are lucky just to have a little food to get by.
