Hello! Because I was sick the day I was supposed to start my bc pack, I did not take my first pill -thinking that the first day was not as important, which also led my bf and I to have unprotected sex.

So, here is how it goes: first day: I was supposed to take it but did not.
Second day: took my first pill (and had sex).
Third day: told a friend about the situation and she said that the first day was critical to miss so I took 2 pills to make up for the first lost day.

Will having the 2 pills help my chances of not getting pregnant?
Or did I have to take the 2 pills on the second day for that to work?

Thank you.

The first day missed is usually what most women recall when they find out they're pregnant and wonder why. You should have taken 2 the second day if you missed the first day. But it is still effective to have taken 1 the second day and 2 the third day. Just be careful next time. If it's not too late (72 hours) you can take the morning after pill.

And taking two pills is fine, silly guy doesn't know what he's talking about. It's when you start missing 2 or more days in a row that things get iffy with how many you can take. Your pills should come with directions on what to do in these instances, I don't want to go into them here. But once you miss 2 days, you use a back up method of birth control for 7 days. If I were in that situation though, I wouldn't have sex or I would use back up methods until I had my period and started a new pack.

If you're finding it hard to remember, you may want to try the patch or Nuva Ring, my roommate really likes hers. It might be for you.

You should have taken your pill regardless of how sick you were... it does affect the chances that you would get pregnant. You should read the insert in your bc packet about missing a pill then using protected sex for one week after missing one pill, and if you miss 2 you use a back up method the whole month.

Once you start birth control, you have to wait a little for it to actually take effect. Its not like, instant relief.

It is also not good to miss it or take it late. It is very important to take on time because of the hormone levels.

Lastly, taking two pills is going to be just as bad as not taking it, so dont do that.

Talk to your doctor asap and lay off the sex for a while.

Best advice I can give you...call your local Planned Parenthood and ask them. Or contact your doctor that prescribed the pills. Worst case scenerio is that you are pregnant. If your period is late this coming month, do a pregnancy test immediately. I would recommend that if you cannot take your pills the way they are meant too that you use condoms, or switch to another method of birth control.

Your pills are a little mixed up

If you have been taking birth control pills you missed one and yes there is a chance

If you just started taking pills you need to wait at least 7days before having unprotected sex
so yes there is a chance

First off, never ever ever take two doses of any pill if you happen to forget one. Ever.
Secondly, as with most pills..bc pills take a bit of time to work.
Taking two won't improve your chances of not getting pregnant.

actually, taking 2 pills at the same time could cause breakthrough bleeding.
you could have been safe just taking them regularly like you didnt skip a day.

the last four you take in the pack (they are usually the last 7 for the last week) are just placebos so you can start your period.

hope that helps.

You should have taken the two pills on the second day. You'll probably be okay pregnancy wise, but you and your boyfriend should use barrier protection every time you have sex.
