This is from the Gospel according to St. John. It's very interesting that you mention war as that strikes a resonance with me.
I'm an active geocacher (http://www.geocaching.com/), and one cache that I visited was along the edge of a cemetery where a Marine was buried that had been killed in action in Iraq. The cache was dedicated in his memory, and a stirring tribute to the young man was written into the cache's description.
I made that particular cache a milestone find, my 500th. When I wrote my log in the Geocaching website, I described my reactions to both learning of the cache and visiting the Marine's grave-site after the cache find, and I used that particular line from John's Gospel in my log, which to this day I believe is the best log that I've written in over 800 finds.
Thank you for your question, and may the spirit those words of Christ be with us all.

I wasn't in a war (thank God) but the quote you mentioned is from John 15:13, I think...and that comes from Jesus Himself.

It's from the Bible. No, I've never been in a war. It is with honor and respect that I hold those who have and are. They are doing a job that I know I cannot do (I'm 42) .

because of fact the bible has already reported that guy could desire to love his spouse as he loves himself. Otherwords the spouse is a concern. The bible additionally says that the guy that doesn't defend and look after his very family is worse than an infidel.
