Several reasons. A 2002 could throw a code from some sensor and that would pop the light on. Best to have someone read the codes to find out what's going on. If nothing is there have them wipe the codes and see is that kills the service light. If something does happen to be there, fix/repair/replace the problem and then wipe the codes and see if that kills the light.

Any number of reasons. Gas Cap could not be on tight, turn it a few more clicks and see if that helps. Oil cap could not be on tight, same thing, turn it a few clicks. O2 Sensor could be going out, the computer could sense something wrong with the fuel or emissions system. Take it to the dealer and they'll plug the computer into it and tell you what it is.
