no reason it should take longer unless your periods are way far apart. You can buy an ovulation detector at a pharmacy. 3 weeks after ovulation do preg test if have not had a regular menstual blood flow.

I depends on how you define "irregular." If you mean you only get a period once every 3 months, then yes it could take longer. If you're getting bleeding every 10-20 days, then there's a good chance you could have it happen sooner. The only person that could answer this for sure would be a gynecologist.

As for when to test, if you're "quick" irregular, you should test when you've not had a period when you expect it (as in, you've gone 30 days without bleeding, and you usually bleed every 20).

The best thing you can do for yourself (and your gynecologist) is to mark every single day on a calendar that you bleed. Use a red pen & make a dot or an "X" or something. This will help with a diagnosis.

I don't think it would take longer but it might. But just because you have irregular cycles doesn't mean that you won't be able to if you are pregnant or not. Take a test if you miss your period. Even if you don't miss it take a test anyway and be sure to go to the doctor just incase. Check and see if you have other symptoms that may help you figure it out.

I wont say it will take longer.
I had irregular periods all the time I didnt even know I was pregnant when I was.
It took me feeling sick and going into the bathroom and I wound up passing out and getting sick everywhere at like midnight.
My fiance rushed me to the E.R. and that is where I found out I was pregnant.
If it werent for me getting sick I would have never known

i would think it would take longer if you were irregular. i guess it also depends on how tuned in you are to your body, to guess your ovulation,. like when you have the clear discharge, like egg white. that would be the best time to have sex. i don't have too much faith in home pg test seeing that they never worked for myself. but if your one of those lucky people , then try about what you think would be about 2 weeks late for your period or so. GOOD LUCK.
