After reading the bsnews clipping, recollecting the basics of Newton's Theory of Relativity, and a lot of profound thought (!), I have come to the following original conclusion :
Depending on the distance and angle from which you are viewing the peanut, elephant, and moon, they will appear larger or smaller to your eyes.
For example, a peanut held very near your eyes will seem larger than an elephant which will seem but a tiny speck when viewed from about a mile, or so, away !
