"Novelty Theory suggests that on December 21 of 2012 AD, at the coincidence of the moment of the solstice and the heliacal rising of the galactic center, levels of planetary novelty will exponentially increase. Theory does not make clear the nature of the ultranovel event, however." -www.levity.com/eschaton/Why2012.html

"World predicted to end, or be re-born, on December 21, 2012 according to the Mayan Calendar." -Wikipedia

Reagarding the 'golden age': "Kalki, last incarnation of Vishnu is here, and intends to enlighten 60,000 people before 2012, so as to form a critical mass that will cause a chain-reaction, enlightening all mankind in preparation for the Golden age in 2012."

Apparently, we will all be enlightened and this will lead to 'The Golden Age.' I dunno..

I saw that show on the History Channel. It was very ambiguous. Most of the time, you get the impression that time ends on that day. Then toward the end they say that the Mayans really said that an age is ending. What's golden about the next, I don't know. Let's just hope it means something good. At any rate, I'd go ahead and Christmas shop early in 2012.

That might be the first full day of winter that year. Usually the winter solstice occurs on the 21st, making the 22nd the first full day of winter, but 2012 is a leap year, so the solstice will occur a day earlier, most likely on the 20th.

Not sure what this has to do with the Golden Age, but ...

supposedly it is the day that the Mayan calendar ends and that is the day that the world is going to end but if that is the case then why would you still want to live or try to accomplish anything if you knew that it would all be pointless because of the fact that you would die in 6 years anyway, Hence why i believe that nothing is going to happen on that day it will be like all others and anyone who happens to believe that the world is going to end on that day needs to get a life and stop believing in a calendar that belongs to a civilization that believed in sacrifice, and if you couldn't help but notice the Mayans are no longer around so who's smarter the calendar made by the people who's civilization is still intact or the ancient civilization that died off??????

The US will still be in Iraq and President Jeb Bush will be telling us "stay the course", and that we're, "liberating Iraq people as part of the war on terrorism". Meanwhile, there will be no Americans left under 25 years old and Bush will continue to be the most dangerous person in the world.

I don't know anything about the golden age, but the date you have listed is the date the earth is suppose to slip its crest and the land masses will slide 3000 miles
north and cause what we know of the earth today to be ended. sorry...but as more and more volcano's, earthquakes and other odd things are happening under the earth, it looks like we all should just party man...

Is that when the world is supposed to end according to the Mayan calendar? The Golden Age means utopia, I think.
