Those can't really be tracked, can they? Like, they don't actually send money on depending on how many people it's sent to, do they?

If you guessed zero, you win.

Not all are scams. Some are in the category we might call memes or mind viruses. The emails keep being passed on because they manipulate people's hearts/minds into sending them.

majority if not all are fakes, copy some of the email text and do a search on them and you will see that most are totally fake. hoaxbusters.com is a good site to confirm validity. Also, it is not true about people being sent money either to support their cause. It is really sad what some people send out via email forwards.

Not a single one is real.
Many people have been "Scammed" in to sending money because , well I don't want to be rude but they are gullible idiots. <--(sorry I can't put it any nicer.)

Most times that is how hackers spread there malware and when someone opens the "cute" picture of the "kitty" or reads the sob story, there computer is infested with Malware and it reports back to the hacker and they are now free to use YOUR computer anyway they want. Including delete everything, to having it over clock itself and actually BURN out!
