On the movie The Color Of Friendship,(Disney, 2000ish) Mahree asks Roscoe Dellums for some rusks and bringel (don't know how to spell it) for breakfast. What exactly is rusks and bringel? Is this only a food exlcusive to South Africa? Or was this something made up for purposes of the movie?

Bringal or Brinjal is aubergine or eggplant. It seems an odd thing to want for breakfast but people do eat odd things for breakfast. Rusks would be toasted bread.
