ok you are using windows xp? good, then click start, run, regedit.exe
now you need to browse to the key to perform the desired operation.
so you will see in the left hand pane the key [hkey_local_machine] click on it, now browse (scroll to the next stop software again click it repeat until you are at the correct location and perform the task you need to.

remeber to use the back up option (in vista this is the export all option) before you make any changes to the registry if you fail to perform the task correctly you could end up killing your current system state requiring you to reinstall your operating system.

to back up/export the entire system registry click on computer so that a plus sign is next to it (in the registry editor this is) and the tree collapses.
now click file, export, type a name with the .reg extension, if it not set already click the all option pick a location to store the backup (preferbaly not your C: drive) now click save. and you are done

Be VERY careful when editing the registry. The slightest mistake can really screw up your computer, even making it unbootable.

BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO IT!!!

When you run regedit, click File, Export and give it a name. Then make your changes.
