to have the casing crack? I've heard that this atv is bad for that. Is it true?

Did the engines cases crack because the chain jumped off the sprockets,causing the chain to wrap around the front sprocket?If this is what happened,then NO.I have never heard of any honda engine with defective engine cases that crack.It just doesn't happen.Matter of fact,not with any of the big four japanese manufacturers.

I've haven't heard of that problem on a TRX450. I've never even seen a TRX with cracked cases.

You mean the engine case(s)? No, can't say that I've heard that. There seems to be some trouble with the heads and in particular the valve seats, but that's all I've heard of.
