I love believable stories and medical thrillers.

I HATE: Mystery / Romance / Anne Rice

Hey Dan, no contact info for you, so I'll thank you here. I have loved Go Ask Alice since I was like 14 and I'm in my mid-30's now and STILL keep going back to that book. I'm a big journal fan and that book is really intense. Even though it's from a teen's point of view, it's still a good adult read.

The Infinite Plan, by Isabel Allende -- reading it now, very good.
Also loved Hosseini's The Kite Runner, and James Patterson's 4th of July.

Not sure what you mean by drama. I'm into historical fiction, which can be pretty dramatic. :-)

The First Man in Rome - The best book I've ever read.
Aztec, great
Shogun, memorable description of ancient Japanese culture, although the small love story sub-plot is a bit hokey.

And if you want an alternative Vampire book (one that is enjoyable) try Lord of the Vampires, by Jeanne Kalogridis. It's a back-story to the original Dracula by Bram Stoker, written deliberately in the same style.

Try Amazon recommendation lists. Go find a book you liked, or a style, then click on the lists that people make of their favorites.

There is ALWAYS somebody with way more time on their hands to sift through the crap and find good books. Those lists can be very helpful...

I liked Monster by Frank Peretti. I'ts clean for teens too. Thought provoking story if a genetic disturbance could re create a sasquach.
I also liked House by Frank Peretti & a co-author I can't remember. It's about a serial killer mixed in a house that re-arranges its inside quarters.
