Does it make sense that people who are against abortion are the same people who oppose sex education? The people who oppose violent video games, music and movies are the same people who support the war in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine; and support the war mongering Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld?
Can anyone explain these contradictions?

I forgot to mention people who are pro-life, yet support the death penalty.

redfernkitty - I'm asking a question in an open minded manner. Perhaps I am attempting to understand - as you've so unintelligently asked me to do.

kj7gs - please re-read the question. I didn't Pidgeon hole anyone, and I didn't make a generalization. I specifically asked about people who support/oppose the things I listed. Pidgeon holing would be me saying "why do all people who support this oppose that"? And your answer shows you are not one of the people that I asked about - so how did I pidgeon hole you? I wish there was a way to ask questions of only the smart people on here, but there's not...so I guess I'll just have to skim over the answers from people who can't even understand the question.

lilmissy - I'm not comparing apples and oranges. I find it perplexing that a person who opposes violent entertainment (enought to blame it for all our problems in the world) can be the same person who supports Bush's war mongering without question. I also find it perplexing that people who are pro-life, and will take to the streets in protest; are the same people who support the death penalty without question. And....someone said it's not black and white...thanks for making that point. You're correct, nothing is black and white. There are innocent people who die on death row. So it's not about guilt and innocence is it?
Just so you all know...I'm not opposed to the death penalty, but I'm also not opposed to stem-cell research; and although I do not condone abortion, I'm not for the government telling people what they can or can't do - because, as someone stated, nothing is black and white. That's the whole point I'm trying to make here.

No, there is no explaining the hypocrisy that is part of the Bush Administration and the Republican Party. I have asked this question to a number of people including letters to the editor in several papers. How does the NRA belong in a party of Right to Life Conservatives. It makes no sense. Hope you get a decent answer for your question not just a stupid and smartass remark. But truthfully, I can't imagine how anyone can justify the marriage of these two supposedly opposite groups.

Your view of 'those people' is narrow and you grossly misunderstand their position. Perhaps if you opened your eyes and your ears and sought to understand what the 'other side' really feels/believes, then you would be able to present your argument in a more intelligent manner.
Generally speaking:
1. People who are against abortion are not against sex education-they simply want a more abstinence-based approach...this does not mean leaving out the section on birth control and so forth...they want to instill the truth that young people are special and that their bodies are special and they want to empower young people to make wise choices about their sexuality that are not based on emotions and hormones.
2. People who are 'opposed to violence in entertainment' are not trying to get rid of it. They simply want to make it harder for minors to have access to. Military action in other countries is something completely different...and not all are 'for' it. In fact, most people are against war, but those who support the current one see no alternative to American safety...diplomacy will not work with people who hate and want to kill you...there is nothing we can do to stop them hating us.
3. Although I am against the death penalty myself-the arguement for being anti-abortion and pro-capitol punishment would be the innocence/guilt of the person being killed. The argument is a criminal has committed a crime and was condemned by a jury of his peers. An unborn child has been condemned by the mother's incovenience of having a child-even though their choices landed them into that predicament to begin with. And don't even play the rape-incest-health card because they are not the issue. Even before Roe v. Wade...abortion was legal in some form in all 50 states...and abortions for those reason make up less than 3% of abortions performed in the United States.
Using your logic...would it not be a moral contradiction to oppose the death of criminals, yet adamently support the death of unborn children? Would it not be a contradiction that the people who play violent video games and watch violent TV are so opposed to war? I am not making these claims-I am just saying the the pendulum can swing the other way. These issues are not black and white.

These are hypocrites. Thats why someone who blindly follows one political party and puts down independant people, or in my case Libertarian, as conservatives without a backbone, are really just insecure about themeselves (Rush is a prime example). I lean more towards conservative than liberal, but only because I cant stand the political correctness of liberals.
I will say one thing though, The anti-abortion vs. death penalty (I am pro-choice by the way), The criminal chose to commit the acts that led to a death sentence, the fetus did not, so thats not really a apt comparison.

You're kinda pigeonholing people here. I'm against abortion, but for safety if it's going to be done with or without a physician. I'm all for abstinence but again, sex education is for those who won't pay attention to those kinds of values. I don't oppose violent video games, but parents need to stay involved with what their kids are doing and help them with proper decisions. And I support the war in Iraq and "war mongering Bush", but for political reasons, not because I love the idea of violence. I may be your exception, but I don't take to being stereotyped either.

It is a matter of belief. If you believe that a fetus/embryo is a human life, innocent human life, then your approach to abortion is different. Lets face it, most abortion happen because people who KNOW how to prevent pregnancy, DON'T. It isn't a matter of people not knowing...society just tells people that if something is inconvenient to you, it is your right to do whatever you want to "fix it".
As for war, with the right purpose, war is necessary. Do you feel it was worth going to war if it meant the end of the Holocaust? What about to end the oppression of women? The murder of citizens?
As to your question about the death penalty, I have asked the same question.... How can someone who is pro-choice be anti-death penalty? That seems to be a huge contradition to me....

abortion vs. sex ed, video games vs. war, pro-life & death peanalty.
you aren't comparing apples to apples here.
abortiion regards adults, sex ed regards children & teenagers...
war regards adults, video games regards children...
pro-life regards the innocent unborn - death penatly regards murderers.
I believe you are trying to say why do conservative want to protect their children from viewing and learning hostile behaviors but why then do they support war. Because it is the responsibility of parents to monitor the influences their children are exposed to, any good parent does that. Opposing or agreeing with war isnt comparible to the responsibility of good parenthood.
Pro-life and the death penalty are the same. Pro-life represents the wrong of killing innocent babies. Death penatly is a deterant for ending life unjustly. Pro-life isnt so much about the preservation of all life but specifically innocent life and their right to have life.
You can't compare the two. Its apples vs. oranges.

No one can adequately explain hyprocrisy. Those people are delusionaries.
They have real personality issues that they cannot resolve. They are unhappy lower class citizens who has been given a voice by the trailer trash in a suit who now sits in the white house.
So now they are screaming for blood to avenge some invisible monster that they have been toting around for years.
They will not go away until 'good people' take a stand.

Hey Zar,
I guess it makes as much sense as being up at arms over stem cell research, and not having a problem with fertilization clinics killing hundreds of embryos. Reframing from being judgmental, avoiding being hypocritical and minding one’s business are allusive attributes for these wingers. (hmm? said it well)
Have a great weekend!

Is it a contradiction to believe that innocent lives are sacred and that premarital sex is wrong? I don't think so.
Is it a contradiction to think that violence is bad for kids to see but is sometimes necessary for adults to engage in in order to protect our freedoms? I don't think so.
Re pro-life vs death penalty...Is it a contradiction to believe that innocent lives are sacred but killers should be put to death? I don't think so.

Good question - too bad you can't give yourself 10 points!! Maybe its because God told them to oppose some of those things and be behind others.....after all, they are God's chosen political party.
