I'm not sure why everyone so afraid of cloning. Maybe it's a natural instinct to feel afraid of things that are new. Yeah, it could be dangerous, yes, there would definitely be some moral issues, but I think it's something we need to pursue as our next step in evolution.

If you're a Christian, God made us with the capability to clone ourselves; if He didn't want us to do it, he would have made it impossible. We create new life all the time with bio-engineering, but people are afraid to take the leap with humans.

If humans stayed afraid all the time, there wouldn't be a North America.

No, I don't think so. We have the capacity to do many things this is but one more. Its not OK to do just anything we're capable.

Without digging into the mystical parts of this question, like does a clone have a soul. If you believe that human life is special then cloning reduces human life to something less than special.

The idea of it opens a pandoras box of unforeseen consequences and problems for which we have no answers. Is a clone a person or property. If I replicate myself into a 1000 clones can I do with them as I see fit. Confine them into suspended animation to be used as my spare parts. Is killing a clone murder or property damage.

On top of the philosophical questions as to how will clones be treated as people or property there are technical problems as well. You know Dolly the sheep did not lead a normal life but was plagued with medical problems. As you age your cells replicate themselves over and over and each time there's a chance of slightly altered DNA. Would a clone from a 60 year old man be the same as a clone from the same man when he was 21.

Bottomline is I think there are a lot of questions that need to be discussed before we get to the should we or shouldn't we part.

Cloning is only okay to the terms of helping out others for example creating organs but then if one person does end up cloning then they probably would monopolize the organ and tissue recreation thingy or whatever it would be called pretty much cloning of any type only benefits the rich and the maker of the cloned objects. so it would not help people that do not have enough money to afford a cloned organ.

Where the F does it say in the Bible, Thou shalt not clone?

----------------------------

Unmitigated freedom in cloning seems wrong, the way people are saying it is ok to harvest a clone's organs. If we are to consider cloning, we must also regard the cloned people as people themselves. You could live quite a long time, I would think, if for every ailing organ you had a half-grown child waiting to be sacrificed. This ruthless scenario, which any life-loving billionare could rationalize, I'm sure, must be prevented. But that does not stop us from cloning for many other justifiable reasons.

The problem with Cloning for NOW is this simple fact: Say you want to clone your parents, their dying and they are both 80 years old. You take skin and blood sample and take these to the lab for the cloning process.

The problem is this, when the clones are born, they are susceptible to the same problems and illness as 80 year old people. Until we can "clean" the genes from years of build-up of wear and tear and mistakes, only then will it be feasible, unless of course we save genetic samples from NEW BORN'S!

Cloning is a scary thing.

First and foremost, imagine clones of George Bush, Bill Clinton and Britney Spears.

I mean, can you imagine 10 Britney Spears running around!

All performing.

All on different TV talks shows!

Now if that isn't a good reason to ban cloning, I can't imagine what is a good reason!

How about Dr. Phil. Imagine him on ALL the stations at ONCE with clones!

Bill Gates running Microsoft for the next 1,000 years via clones.

Osam Bin Laden running Al Queda for 1,000 years via clones!

Fidel Castro, turning his rule over to his clone!

Bozo turning his rule over to his clone.

That would rightfully make it the Bozo the Clone show!
