I think we should have used more environment friendly cars by now. Ethanol, electric, hydrogen, sun ray, bio diesel, etc., etc. should be put into use on cars, buildings, industries.
Besides of this, our economic principles might also be changed a bit. So far capitalism always try to squeeze more profit thus keep looking for cheap energy sources. Most alternative energy cost more than oil that is why oil is still widely used today.
