why do they need to give us a choice?

It is more of a friendly option than a choice. Some people prefer one over the other for recycling or re-use purposes. It is easier for some folks to carry paper bags than plastic sacks. or.........it may be another secret operation being performed by the government without our knowledge in which people are being weeded out depending on their bag selection.......

Paper, but at many stores you don't get a choice, you get stuck with plastic. Plastic bags always rip before I get them home!

I like paper for my bread, eggs and cold things, because they don't smash as easily and things stay colder in paper. And I like plastic for all the other stuff. I guess they ask for people who are picky like me. :)
