My first study abroad experience was in Prague. I would highly recommend it over the more common study abroad locales. It's worth some research anyway :)
But my experience in Prague was basically being surrounded by a bunch of snot-nosed kids from the US chasing each other around the city and not getting any real work done and treating it like an extended vacation. The city itself is absolutely amazing and should be treated as more than a place to go out for cheap drinks every night.
My second study abroad experience was in Wroclaw, Poland. Everyone was much more mature and I gained A LOT more from the experience. But I wouldn't recommend Wroclaw if you want to be somewhere where there is a lot to do.

I've studied abroad twice. Prague, and in Germany. Paderborn, Germany was the worst time of my life, and if I had a psychiatrist, he would tell me not to talk about it anymore. Just take my word, and no matter what, do not study in Paderborn. Prague however, was the best time of my life! There's so much to do there! It's a much more commercial and faster paced society, especially near the city center, than western europe. The Czechs actually edge out Americans in annual working hours. There's a ton of tourists there, which is both good and bad. Good because there's a hell of a lot of shopping and international businesses located there. Bad because you'll get sick of them being loud and crowding every place. The food in Prague was unreal! I ate tons of Czech, which was delicious. Also, tons of Chinese, Italian, Greek, American, Mexican, etc... and it is all very good. The best part about the food is how cheap it is. The nightlife is incredible in Prague, though after a while the big touristy clubs begin to grow a little tiresome. The drinks there are also dirt cheap, especially the beer, which is the best I've ever had. Czechs themselves are generally very hard working people, and most in the center speak at least a few languages. They're much more reserved, but if you put in the effort to get to know them, they are an incredible people who you will never forget. Also, the women are extremely attractive. I'd say top 3 countries in Europe for sure. They are just ridiculous! I wanted to get married while I was there! I would especially recommend it if you're into hot older women, because there's too many of them there. Prague itself is the most beautiful big city in Europe, maybe the world. There is a ton of interesting history and cultural highlights well worth seeing. Also, it is very centrally located and you can get relatively cheap buses, trains, and even flights to the rest of Europe. Many other people came and visited there who had studied abroad extensively all over the world and said that they thought Prague was the best place by far. I would recommend this location 100%, it will be the best experience of your life.

I haven't studied abroad yet in high school - but I'm applying for SYA France (Rennes) for my junior year 07-08.
I've done a ton of research on programs.
For France - SYA is unusual because its kind of liek going to boarding school in France with American kids only classes are in French and you live with a French family. If you don't want the private school setting, I recommend AFS where you go to public school with French kids. Its a lot less expensive.
For England - a lot of programs don't do England because of this big mixup with the government. However, AYUSA has a nice program. (it's like $30,000 a year - but there are scholarships) I think they are one of theonly organizations that does the UK.
hope this helped.

When I was in HS I went to England, and then I went to Austria when I was a junior in college, and spent 2 months in France after that.
It was an amazing experience- both culturally and academically.
If you do not speak French, I would recommend taking at least some French to help you get by

Studying abroad is an absolutely super experience that you will cherish for the rest of your life so I highly recommend it.
Smith College has a great program in Paris. They also have an excellent program in Geneva (that starts out with a month in Paris) so you may also want to consider that.
My year abroad was one of the best years of my life. The students on my program have remained some of my closest friends years after college.

Prague is one of many towns worth-visit and to accomplish this you can begin planning your vacation with hotelbye . Starting with the wonderful region across the Prague Castle or the Strahov monastery with its exceptional selection and end with …the complete splendid city, Prague is simply incredible. In Prague you can even visit the small home wherever Franz Kafka worked or the wonderful Prague Castle gardens from where you are able to have a unique see of the town with its picturesque red roofs. In this town you'll never get bored. If you should go during the spring you will find the spring woods in flower; in summer time you will dsicover extended dusks; fall will give you colorful leaves and special mild and in the winter you will like the entire city protected with innocent bright snow.
