just eliminate lies. at least ten times a day they come into my front room with another stupid commercial about how many men women and babies are killed by cigarettes...oh and how many pairs of shoes they left behind. who does not know that smoking is bad for you? its printed on every pack of american sold cigarettes (may cause lung cancer emphysema yada yada and so forth) i just need to know why these people are spending obscene amounts of money to tell us something we already know? how are they eliminating lies? no lie was told.smoking is bad for you. the surgeon general said so. everyone knows smoking is bad for you if you dont you must live under a rock and wont see the commercial anyways.

it's called shock adds or commercials. they think by telling/showing this type of thing in that matter it will steer you away from using the product, in this case cigarettes. their not the only ones using this type of advertisement, look at the insurance companys using car wrecks and things like that but their just grabbing your attention to look at their product i.e. life insurance and so on.
i personally like the stupid orbit white gum commercial, it's not quite the same as the cigarette commercial but they always start out with some off the wall sketch then those freaks end up in the end with white teeth.

I think they're trying to stop teenagers from taking up the habit, as adults usually don't. But they might try raising the cost of cigarettes to cover the adverts & then make even more. Maybe making the cost of a pack $20 might actually help pay for the medical costs associated with long term tabacco smoke exposure, and make the kids spend their money on chewing gum instead.
