You could do what the first person said, or you could buy a TV tuner card for your PC. Just plug the VCR into the tuner card on the PC and record the show. Then just encode in what ever format you would like. They have cheap TV tuner cards and expensive ones. The more you pay the better the picture will look. Just remember that you are going from tape to digital so there will be some distortion but if you get a good tuner you will not notice it.

Also if you get a tv tuner in your PC you can hook cable/satellite up to it and use it as a Tivo.

The simplest way is to go out and buy a VHS/DVD recorder for about $350. You can use your recorder to record tv shows as well. Myers is having a big sale on and some of the stuff are nearly 1/2 price.
Another way is to install a video capture card in your computer and capture your VHS onto your hard drive, then to your cd /dvd. Too much to explain here, best to check it out with your local computer guy.

the 2 answers r all correct.u don't need to buy dvd/vhs combo machine for around $300 coz if u hav vhs, u must hav vcr already.thus, just a stand-alone dvd recorder will do the job for under $200.good luck.
