Like every makeup brand, you find things you like and dislike. Its the same with Mary-Kay products. I have and still do use a few products, but in my own opinion some of it costs a little much. I do love good quality products, but i don't want to pay a fortune for them. I'm an Avon Sales Consultant and I do enjoy it as well as our products, but if you are truly interested in Mary-kay then go for it. This kind of business is fun, and you get to meet all kinds of people. Not everyone is meant for this type of thing so consider all your options ahead of time. I hope it all works out for you, Good Luck!!!

The products are wonderful and basicly sell themselves you just need to let people try them. The are a wonderful company to work with because they collect the sales tax when you purchase the products from the company and send it to the proper place for you and they are very helpful with any question you have along the way their are several rewards for doing thing with in the company and with in your unit. If you have any other question please visit my site and then you can call or email me and I'll love to tell you more and I can send you some info on the company and answer any question about becoming a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consulant. It's a lot of fun!!! www.marykay.com/kfrench2006 I can tell you about the discounts and everything just ask!!!

When I was living in the dorms in college, our RA was a mary kay rep. She made tons of cash and we had so much fun. But, she was lucky to have continuous access to girls who buy lots of makeup. For the business side of it, make sure you'll be able to have a good client base, otherwise it won't work. Most of the products were just like any other makeup you'd find. But, their concealor in the tube was amazing! Foundation was above average. They also had this green, deep cleansing, exfoliating mask that was phenomenal. Their mascara wasn't very good. Too wet and sloppy. Everything else was just average.
I know in the midwest, it is very well known. Not sure about other areas.
It was a little expensive, but not as expensive as department store cosmetics, and usually they had great package deals to buy more than one item. Plus, you get good discounts for hosting the party.
I liked the packaging and the little snap in trays you could buy. Kept my makeup really organized and easy to take with me.

I just bought some for the 1st time. The eye shaddow is very satiny, and stays put all day, no creases. Same with the eyeliner. I can run my finger across it and it wont smear. The lipgloss is very smooth, not gloopy, but it comes off very quickly. The prices are higher than stores such as Target, etc. but still not way out.

it was way too expensive for me AND even the most sensitive products caused an extreme cases of skin rash. :(
i prefer avon - pricing is better and you're not forced to purchase an entire line of products as a 'package deal' and their products have yet to make my skin do nasty things.

they are over priced and over rated. You can get the same kind of make up in any department store. I was going to sell it at one time too, and all you end up doing is spending a bunch of your money, for the start up kit, and it is a hard way to make any money

I hate it. It's terrible. My future sister-in-law sells that crap.
..and working for those types of sell from home companies are a total SCAM. go out into the real workforce and be a real salesperson instead of falling for those pyramid schemes.
