Look in your trunk on the side your fuel pump is on and pull back the carpet or whatever it is and see if there is a switch that may need resetting. Not sure what you call it but it has something to do with the gas. My car would not crank several years ago and AFTER I paid a wrecker, the driver told me to check that switch in the trunk. Sure enough that was the problem. I had a blowout on the tire by my fuel tank the other day and after someone changed my tire it would not crank. I checked this switch in the trunk and that was the problem.

What do you mean by "but doesn't catch?" The problem most likely is known as vapper locking. This can happen in hot weather. It's a lacking of fuel getting to the carb/fuel injector causing air to flow and not fuel.

could be a worn out battery. there may not be enough charge in it to turn the starter. it takes a lot of battery power to start the car. the battery can overheat and belch the acid out leaving you with a less than full charge. try to start the car in the cooler morning hours and take it to a garage or dealership and have the battery checked. some auto parts stores will check it for free.

Is it only when its hot? Open the gas cap and try it then maybe its vapor locked. You should tell us what kind of car year and all that easier to answer then. Good Luck!

All I can suggest is that if it is a Buick, you may have fuel pump troubles. Or even if it isn't a Buick. I just blame Buicks as I've known a few of them to have the same problem.

Open circuit in ignition module, acused by heat. When it cools down, the circuit closes and the car will start.
