loosen the head evenly, start bringing it in to tune one lug at a time in a star pattern, tap one lug at a time, about one inch from the edge of the drum. you will start to hear a tone which you want to sound evenly, do this for the bottom head as well, start with the kick drum and work you way backwards from the largest drum to the smallest... then the snare... good luck!

ok...so you have the drum key right?? and you see how the drum is in the shape of a circle??? ok you see the little knobbies around the drum?? that's where the key fits!! start with the knob closest to you turn it left to loosen right to tighten...then next go to the one across from you then the one on the far left then the far right...the idea is to work across the one you just did so that you do not create too much tension on one side of the drum

By twisting the screws on the metal rim around the head with the drum key....also, my Dad has a technique he taught me. Place strips of duct tape on the head towards the edge...that helps get the right sound. Afterall, if ya can't duct it fu(k it!! good luck
