Say I'm out of shape, then one day I walk 5 miles. About an hour later, my legs ache really badly. If I sit down, I need to get up to ease the pain, but it hurts to walk. Ice packs aren't helping all that much. I'm only 14 so it's not like I have a disease or anything ... any ideas?
I know I should probably go to a doctor, but this isn't that big of a deal, so I was just asking.

when you exercise beyond your Aerobic capacity, lactic acid forms in your bloodstream, causing pain or cramps.
Take it nice and steady to begin wuth, and gradually work up your exercise routine.

You're "out of shape" but you decide one day to walk 5 miles??? Were you thinking you could ge IN shape in one day?
A five mile walk is a LONG distance even for seasoned walkers. You've over-used those leg muscles to the point of causing some damage on the cellular level. Muscle cells have torn and are leaking fluid into the surrounding tissues. That is what is causing the pain.
If this is so severe that you can't function, then see a doctor or nurse practitioner in his or her office. Sometime muscle damage can lead to more serious problems such as kidney damage. If your urine starts to get really dark, seek medical attention ASAP!
And next time, start out with ONE mile, and work your way up to five gradually.

You're eighteen, you should not desire a fundamental lesson in common sense. You had been running alot whilst not worthy. Now you rested your muscle groups and so they harm. When muscle groups are used, they tear and heal. That is how our our bodies upgrade themselves and muscle groups construct up. If you activity greater than typical, or greater than your frame is used to then you're going to revel in tiredness and affliction for a brief at the same time. You need to supply your frame a risk. Also, should you had been relatively chubby, then you definately would not have been capable to do this a lot running. And I presume your pc is subsequent for your mattress otherwise you crawled there, because you cannot stroll. Overexaggeration does not support different persons support you, it simply makes you appear very immature and whiny. Keep your muscle groups hot and do constant stretches till your frame feels larger. Not running or resting will most effective make you consider stiff.

At 14 it could just be growing pains, fatigue from using them when they aren't ready for it. Is the pain in the front or backs of your legs? Is it just in the joints? Things to think about. Try resting them, and work up to that kind of distance.

YOUR LEGS MAY ACHE DUE TO MUSCLE FATIGUE AND A CHEMICAL YOUR BODY MAKES CALLED LACTASE. STRTCH BEFORE YOU WALK. YOU MAY NEED NEW SHOES WITH GOOD ARCH SUPPORT OR EVEN ORTHODICS IN YOUR SHOES. I'D TAKE IT SLOW. DON'T PUSH YOURSELF TO DO 5 MILES. MAKE SURE THAT YOU STRECH OUT EACH LEG FOR 45 SECONDS AFTER WALKING TOO. YOU NEED YOUR MUSCLES NOT TO BE TIGHT WHEN YOU ARE DONE. ALSO, YOU MAY NEED COMPRESSION STOCKINGS WHICH HELP WITH THE VEIN BLOOD FLOW.
