It is true that both Germany and France were better than Italy, but luck just wasn't on their side. Luck this year was definitely on Italy's side, it seemed every time they needed it, they got it, like some sort of divine wind. Think about it, the last minute penalty kick awarded against Australia, scoring on Germany (and Jens Lehmann who is no doubt the best goalkeeper in the world) less than two minutes before a penalty shootout Italy would have most certainly lost, and then going to a penalty shootout against France, with Buffon not once even coming close to saving one penalty kick, and then suddenly Trezeguet's kick hitting the post. I say luck had a big part in their victory for sure.

Well I would say Argentina was the only better team than Italy this world cup cause the Germans took out the keeper for Argentina who is a monster with penealties and also the way they didnt give Maxi that penalty. Well Brazil lost to France and Portugal did as well and Germany lost to italy so i cant say that they are better than Italy but they are all good teams. France was unlucky with just that one penalty miss from Trezeguet.

In reality, there were around 20 teams better than Italy in the cup. It almost seems that the referees were trying to make up for 2002, when Italy were given some questionable decisions. But Italy did not play well. They were very under the level that they are capable of. Shouldn't have made it out of the group stage. And probably wouldn't have if they had played Ghana 3rd instead of 1st.

No luck had nothing to do with their amazing win. You can't argue with the stats they had no goals against them on the run of play. Only off of a own goal and a PK so i say u stop being so jealous and u get over it the world cup ended a month ago.

I TOTALLY AGREE. They were under par throughout the Wc except their fabulous defense. They were not at all playing fair and actually got away with cheating. Infact I think they were the Worst team to have won the Wc.
France and zidane rulzzzz.
Germany's cool too.
