i have an ex boyfriend from a long time ago who raped me when we were together. he keeps sending me im's and i don't know how he got my user name and he keeps threating to send me viruses, hes pretty smart with computers. what should i do?

FIRST change any and ALL your e-mail passwords.
Collect EVERYTHING he sends and has sent, print it out and take it to the Police or your local FBI office.

You can use the following software to scan your computer and see if he has installed any spyware. He may have sent some through an e-mail. NEVER open any attachments he sends.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Save all messages from him and go to the police. Get a restraining order that prevents him from contacting you in any way or getting near you physically.

change your user name and email address. you can also block certain people on your IM settings (I think) and can definitly block emails. i'd get a 50B while your at it (restraining order). he can't send you a virus unless you allow it "into" your computer by responding to him or opening any emails from him. he could send a virus, but only you can activate it by opening anything he sends you. you can also report him to AOL, yahoo, etc, basically which ever you use. Also, save anything threats you can without responding to them or actually opening email.

Contact the police and file a complaint. Print out his messages and give them a copy of that.

I agree, since this person knows who u are and you've seen him in person, i suggest you contact police officials. Find out how he's getting your s/n info. and if not, you can always make a new s/n. Maybe from an outside source? (nother person)

Do add contact to IM automatiocally.....use setting to check b4 adding....

If he has raped u, report to police if you like.

block him. that's also threatening, which can be reported to the police. if you feel you are in a lot of danger, then call the police.
