What I mean is, push the shut button from the inside and run out before it closes shut?

Funny you should ask. That's how I get out of my garage every morning. My wife and daughter have the garage door openers in their cars. Keeps me in shape, though. I have to hop over the beam that stops the door from operating and duck to miss the closing door at the same time. It's kind of a spaz Limbo situation. (why am I telling you all of this?)

of course but very dangerous. when i work in someones house that's how i lock up, but do not like doing. when i worked for Lowe's i was shocked as to how many children were killed before they installed the safety beam.

I HAVE AN OLD HEAVY WOODEN DOOR WITH NO SAFETY SENSOR TO JUMP OVER. IT GOES SLOW ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET OUT. I'M NO RUNNER FOR SURE AND MY GARAGE IS KIND OF BIG. YOURS MUST BE FAST...

My neighbor does it all the time, he jumps over the beam. I'm not going to try it myself, thats for sure.

Yes, all that you have to do is hop over the motion censor.
